Summary
For Step 5 of the Capstone Project my group had to work on one assignment, the project defense. The purpose of this presentation was to win the confidence of product sponsors and possible clients. Through this we learned how defend our product compared to competators and have improved understanding of how market our products.
Project Defense
Concepts
Microgrid - an independent self-sustaining large scale circuit that can operate off the main power grid. This will be the main focus of Capstone project and what we will be learning about for the next quarter year.
Solar Panels - A photo voltaic module that use sunlight to create energy. Solar panels will be one of the main energy producers for our theatrical design.
Lithium Ion batteries - Lithium Ion batteries will be how our microgrid will store energy created.
Regulator - A device that balances the amount of DC power that is going into a system, prevents batteries from being fried
Power Converter - A device that changes DC power (direct current) to AC power (alternating current)
Volts - a measure of electric force
Amps - a measure of electrical current
Ohms - a measure of electrical resistance
Kilowatt hours - the amount of kilowatts used in an hour
Kilowatts - a measure of electrical energy

Reflection
Skills that I have continued improving upon since the last project up date has been collaboration and communication. Over the last week I have continued to equally divided up the project assignments among my team teammates. I have also brought in my teams members on conversations with our mentors so we all have a better understanding of our mentors advice and or final products design. Since, step 4 I have continued on improving my groups communication methods. I have continuously emailed my team members on which assignments they will be working on for the week and will text them for updates on their work. I have also reached out to more mentors on advice for our product have shared that information with my team.
Skills that I could have done better during step five were work ethic and organization. During step five, my work ethic for the project began to deuterate. Once we finished step five I started to lose motivation for completing our project. This has stemmed from waiting on our mentors to deceiver materials we need to start building our prototype. Additionally for step five I could have improved upon my organization. As of now our project is due in a few weeks. During step five I have not put any effort into starting the process of organizing all the information dn materials for our final presentation.
